LA1 is the encounter between two ways of thinking about modernism : the MR10 chair by Mies van der Rohe illustrates the strict and ultimately rigid industrial principles inculcated by the modernist movement, and a series of assemblages inspired by the work of Anni Albers (my favorite approach) made of washers and ribbon, a simple and effective gesture that forms the seat of a chair that is not made for sitting but for thinking
